Light Within The Storm

Image
There are moments when my testimony that God exists & loves me are so very strengthened. There are others when I know of a surety that Satan exists. This week was filled with both. Saturday especially, we started the day off by visiting a friend who just so needed to hear about the plan of happiness, redemption, & salvation. The spirit was so present as we were able to tell her of the love that God has for her. As we shared the hope that we have as we follow Jesus Christ. As we explained the Atonement & those sacred moments in Gethsemane. Jesus knows every single fear, pain, sorrow, & loss. He knows happiness, hope, love, & peace. Remember that.  We kept going about our day, ran into some kids playing soccer. Happiest day. Took a picture with them & went on our way. We stopped by a tree & all the sudden a dog shows up barking at us & a kid on his bike. The kid on his bike told us we should leave that area & to be careful. He told us there could b...

The Only Way

As I drove away, I couldn’t stop the tears from flowing. All the memories came flashing through my mind. Necochea was full of joy, light, & change. I have been so blessed. I love those people. I love those sweet branches & the members. The companions that I was lucky enough to have. & the friends who we taught, watching their lives change as they hear about the restored gospel. Hurt my heart to leave it all. You just get so close to the people. 7 months of my mission spent in that little city on the beach. I could go on & on & list all the beautiful things I got to experience there, but that would make this email miles long. To make things short, I miss it already & I know that one day I'll be playing volleyball on the beach in Necochea. My time with Hermana Gomez was special. We got along from the very beginning. She is a hard worker, dedicated, & so loving. We only got to spend 6 weeks together, but it was happiness. We had so many sweet moments togeth...

Lifted Up

Their hearts continued to be opened. As we explained the resurrection it all seemed so completely new to them. I had forgotten that these people don't know how beautiful it will be. How perfect it will be. They were speechless. Maria, Mauro, & Lucia are so willing to listen, to share, & to act. Yes, they wondered about it & that is okay. They must ponder & pray. Maria keeps explaining to us how she prayed about the church & got the answer that anything that leads her to God is from God. She kept saying it in the sense that she didn't need what we were teaching. What I realized that day is that she is already getting her answer. These things can get her closer to God than she could be. But what made me the happiest, she came to church. A few weeks back she explained to us that she wouldn't just go to the church to make us happy, but if she had the desire. & Mauro turned 21 & celebrated his birthday on Saturday. They slept way late & honestly, ...

Power Of The Word

As we sat there in their house, talking of Christ, the spirit came flowing in. There is just something so powerful as we speak of Him & His life. The things He did, the miracles He performed, the things He taught, the atonement He gave to us. It is all so special. Maria, Mauro, & Lucia felt that. We sat in their house & there was peace. Never had they listened so intently. Something changed. They are opening up their hearts. We are filled with joy. When we got a reference from social media, we sent a message right away. Planned a call & made that call but as we talked to the kid, there were a lot of people in the background laughing. We felt that maybe it was a joke. We finished the call saying we would call a different time. A different time took a minute as we had the busiest week of our lives last week. Finally, we gave him that call & planned an in-person visit because we could see there was a desire. His name is Elmer. He is from Peru. He came here for soccer ...
