Blessings Pouring In
As this week went by in the blink of an eye, I am left thankful. Thankful for our Heavenly Father & His many miracles. Thankful for this mission. So many beautiful people that I have met and have made such a sweet impact. Thankful for prayer. The Lord hears and answers every single prayer, I just know it. Oh, I love this gospel with all my heart and I know it is true.
Last week, we didn't see much success in finding people. It was a bummer & we decided to get priesthood blessings. So on Monday last week, our ZL gave us blessings. I will always remember this moment. I know that there were some things God wanted to tell me and I certainly felt that. Something that I've been told since being out is that you should always ask for a priesthood blessing if there is someone available and willing. It really is power from on high and it brings answers. Sometimes answers you never knew you needed.
A perfect word to describe this week is water. It rained so much, the streets were river and I threw on my huge poncho and rain boots and danced in the rain. It was such a fun little highlight that I wanted to share. A bit earlier that same day, we were doing some studies but our laundry machine was turning our white clothes dirty with spots of brown so we made an attempt to clean the washer. We put detergent in the little holder and on the inside. It was running and we went to check on it... bubbles absolutely pouring out of the machine. We spent a sweet hour mopping, cleaning, and just laughing.
As I flip through my journal I'm finding so many embarrassing stories, so may as well share them here. We went and rode the bus for my first time since being here to Toay for a lunch. After, we were taking pictures by the church there because it was huge and beautiful. The wind was crazy this day. My dress has already flashed my companion. We were by the bus stop so people just everywhere. I trip on my bag and wind catches my dress, hi everyone take a look. Literally I just sat on the floor for a second while everyone laughed at me. And then just kept going throughout the day trying with my best efforts to keep my dress down.
Another story was when we went to visit a member who lived an hour away. We are in her house and she asked me to bless the food. I am just blessing her, like you do. But I used the wrong name. Her daughter's last name is Santillan and I knew that so I just said Hermana Santillan but she is divorced. See ya. She didn't say anything but still. Then on the way home, sick. Literally was about to poop my pants. Hermana Trimble too. I think I got my first little food poisoning but it wasn't horrible. Then we met a sweet dog. The dogs here love to follow us. This one was being a little protector and it was so cute. Followed us an hour to the church and then we came back out to contact and he was just down the road so he walked with us to knock some doors. Cutest dog, made my day.
I hit two months on Saturday!!! We went to a cute little restaurant for lunch and on accident, I spent 3,000 mil. While we were there, we heard a crash. A motorcycle ran into a car. The guy shoots up, claps his hands and yells put, and then was back on the floor holding his legs. The medical in me was about to walk over there until I realized that I would be no help because there's a whole language barrier. And also the ambulance actually showed up less than a minute after he got hit so that was crazy.
Later this day we went to go visit some of the members because our dinner canceled. The cutest couple ever. The Falcons. He told us his conversion story. I wanted to share it here. He had a friend who was a member and he introduced Hermano Falcon to the missionaries. He had 3 lessons with them and then the missionaries said to go to the church the next morning. He goes, hears the font filling up. They start a lesson and one of the missionaries gets up to leave and the other asks Hermano Falcon if he would be baptized right now. He said no. The other missionary comes back and says did you say yes? And He said no. The missionary said well we are going to pray about it right now. So they had him say the prayer and then asked him again if he would be baptized at that moment. He said yes. The missionary jumped out of his seat, grabbed the white clothes and told him and his friend to go change and the missionaries were the witnesses while he was baptized. The missionary told him after that he had gone to pray that he would accept the invitation of baptism. This couple was the cutest. They brought out some meat and bread and a pie with jam and peanut butter. The meat was the best I have had since being here. After we finished we figured out what kind of meat it was. Hello, it was a chinchilla. Get out of here. I died. Now I want it again.
With last week having little success. This week had a ton. We found many new people who just seemed to be thrown into our path. When appointments canceled, we would find a new person sitting near the house just waiting for the message. One lady explained that she never drank mate outside but told her son that day she needed to. When we were standing across the street she told her son that we were going to come share a message with them. & then we did. She said that it was no coincidence. I don't think it was either. The Lord is so aware of us. Listen to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Never doubting. Remember your covenants. Keep them. Cherish them. If you struggle, you can get back up. The Lord will lift you up. Remember Him, in all things that you do.
A special scripture this week was Mosiah 4:11. It says, "And again I say unto you as I have said before, that as ye have come to the knowledge of the glory of God, or if ye have known of his goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel."
I love you all!!! Thank you for the support and love. I pray for you.
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Morley <3
