Recognizing The Hand Of The Lord
Being here is still mind blowing. I walk the streets for hours each day & sit in houses where people give us so much food. This week was beautiful. We met some new people and visited lots of members and those who are more inactive!!
As time has gone by, Hermana Trimble and I have gotten so close! We laugh & laugh while telling so many stories. We also have been doing lots of walking and have been drained but we keep pushing and are constantly trying to meet new people whether in the streets or at the park!
We met Fabio!!! We went to the laguna and the first person we went up to was sweet Fabio. He was sitting on a little bench staring out at the sunset. As we started to talk to him, it felt calm and the conversation went smoothly! We got his phone number & address. We kept walking around talking to people but paused and watched the sunset for a while. It was beautiful and I felt so much peace. It definitely is hard to feel the spirit as much being back in the world and I had been feeling a lack of it the days leading up to this. It felt so special to sit and feel the spirit again for just a few minutes. I invite you to try to slow down and recognize the hand of the Lord in your life.
Randomly in the middle of the week the AP's sent out a message to have a zoom call with the whole mission at night. My companion said she had never had this before and she's in her last transfer. We get on and they tell us that they had a vision and feel that we need to fast for the next 24 hours on ways we can improve as a mission. Oh my, we were like okay here we go. We decided to start the next day after lunch because we had a less active member preparing for us. I need to explain this day. We went over and she made yummy food and we all ate so much in preparation for the fast and then the daughter wanted to sing with us. So we all sang a little Celine Dion and Whitney Houston and then we taught them some line dances. I was going off and the mom asked me if I was in theater. Literally so funny. As we were saying goodbye, she hugged me extra long and told me she loved my energy and it was just so sweet. Then our fast started and boy oh boy it was hard at first. We eat so much here so when we don't have food it's just not good. As the next day kept going by, it got easier knowing and having a reason behind the fast. Fasting is so special. Then it was over. We all went and prayed to end our fast and made burgers and fries and then watched the chosen. We have been watching the chosen after the day ends and before bed and I just love it so much.
Something so special to me as a missionary is when I notice the gift of tongues working. It has been hard to learn the language. I have just felt so helpless when in the homes of all these people because when they talk to me, I just have no idea what they're saying. They have some thick accents and speak really fast. We went to visit a recent convert to read a chapter of the Book of Mormon together and at the end, I shared testimony and a little thought about it and it went so smoothly and my heart was racing which is when I know I'm feeling the spirit. After we left, my companion said she felt like I had the spirit with me as I shared. I feel so thankful. Moments like that just make all of the hard so worth it.
We met with a cute little family one night and we just talked a lot and shared stories and again, they just love to play music in english so we all were singing and they just videoed lots. It was so cute. And then, there's a knock at the door and the dad comes back in after getting the door and he's like Fabio is here. My companion and I look at each other and say "Fabio." No way. In comes Fabio from the laguna!!! Absolutely insane and it was actually so funny. We ended up sharing a scripture with them and taught them how to pray and went on our way. It is so crazy to think of the way that God works in our lives. His plans are bigger than ours always. Trust in him. He will lead people into your life exactly when they are needed. Pay attention to the little details!!! Serve others!!! & love. Love with all your heart!!! I pray for you & I love you all!!!
With all my heart,
Hermana Morley <3
