Run To The Light
After searching for her whole life, she finally found it. She just knew when the missionaries came that there was something different. She prayed on her knees, in her room, to ask God. & He gave her that answer. That's why she got baptized. Karina got baptized on Saturday & I can't even explain the happiness that filled that day. We woke up that morning & we sent her a text. She had a rough night & wasn't doubting her decision but we decided to go to her house. We just sat there, to listen, as she explained all that had happened. Then we showed a video. A video that talks about running to the light. Karina ran to the light. She got baptized less than a month after the missionaries found her. She knew. As we walked with her to her baptism, she was telling us about her daily study & how she found herself in Alma 34:32. Which says, "Yea, I would that ye would come forth and harden not your hearts any longer; for behold, now is the time and the day of your salvation; and therefore, if ye will repent and harden not your hearts, immediately shall the great plan of redemption be brought about unto you." She told us that day that she had been baptized 2 other times, as a baby, & as she got older, but that this baptism is the last one. Because she found it. She ran to the light.
& we hope her family runs to the light too. All of her kids came to her baptism & it was so happy. Her littlest, Simon, said that to watch his mom being baptized was so cute & he wants to be baptized too. The following day, at church, she got confirmed & received the Holy Ghost. All of her kids & her husband came!!! They were all seated on the benches & I just know her example is illuminating to her family. Oh how beautiful it was.
This week was full of growth. My companion and I have been working hard to find the people who have been waiting for this gospel. We have been doing the things that we need to be doing & we have found people there. There was so much good. There is so much good. Much more good than hard. We have been working through prayer & listening to the promptings that we receive. The spirit is with us. We feel it. & we know the people can feel it too.
We had a family home evening with an inactive family. The mom wants her 7 year old son to hear more about this gospel so he can be baptized. So we taught him about baptism. The dad was on a FaceTime call wanting to hear as well. After we finished, the dad told us that he hadn't felt the spirit in a while, but that day, during that lesson, he did. As I think about this experience, I just know that each and every thing that happens in our lives, the people, the moments, & where we are, all happen for a reason. We were at their house that night & that dad called right in time for a moment to remember what the spirit feels like. & he has been trying to come back. So his heart has changed. He let the spirit in. Sometimes all it takes is a step. It will only be a step. Because the Lord, He wants you back. He will let you in. So let Him. Let the spirit in. & then write it down. So you can remember those moments & turn back to them if you ever forget it.
As I was studying this week, the big topic was the scriptures & the importance of reading everyday. Draw upon the power of the word daily. Pray every morning & night, on your knees, out loud, & read a chapter of the scriptures each day. Testimonies will increase. Commitment will be strengthened. Families will be fortified. Personal revelation will flow. Let the Holy Ghost & the scriptures tell you all things that you should do. Use the scriptures to chase darkness from your life. These are blessings that come from immersing ourselves in the scriptures. The distance narrows between ourselves & our Father in Heaven. Our spirituality shines brighter. We love more intensely those whom we should love.
& oh how much I love all of you. More than you could know. I pray for you.
With all my heart,
Hermana Morley <3
