The Lord's Will
The miracles didn't stop. On Monday night, we got a text from Rodrigo that he had convinced his sister to receive the missionary lessons again. Yanira has been taught by a handful of missionaries & when the rest of her family was baptized, she had decided that it was not her time. Her & Nahuel are cousins, so we had planned a lesson with the two of them on Wednesday. Made sure that it would just be the two of them so we could really focus in on their needs. As we planned that day, we knew we just needed to share stories & speak of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We did, & oh how evident was the spirit. Nahuel shared with us that how two nights in a row he has been flipping the Book of Mormon open to a random page & the first scripture has been Alma 7:14. Inviting us to be baptized. As we finished the lesson, we invited him to be baptized on June 17. Following, we invited Yanira to be baptized the same day. She was hesitant but said she would pray about it. They know how big this decision is & how it is going to change their lives around & that is why it is so special. They know that it is not a game & they are taking it seriously. Yanira has been to church a bunch of times & it's necessary to go to church three times before you can get baptized. We realized that there would only be two more Sundays before the date that she is praying about. Texted her to ask if she knew of a day she went to church. She couldn't find anything. We were scavenging the whole night, looking in the paper records & all. The following day, as I was finishing my prayer. General conference came to mind. We asked her if she had watched general conference!! She said yes!!! But she was so cute & we knew she wanted to be baptized with all the searching she did to be able to be baptized on that day with her cousin. We told her it was not obligatory but that if she wants to be baptized on June 17 she can now, if she makes sure to go to church these two Sundays. She said, "thank you hermanas, yes, I am going to be baptized." We both began to cry as we know how important this decision is for her life & for her family. We are so happy & blessed that they have the examples & support of their family in these big steps.
The following day, we went to go visit somebody who has been taught in the past but we passed by their house. Almost decided to not turn back but then found ourselves running into a man cleaning the yard next door. He wanted to learn more!!! So we had a lesson with him the next day. Taught him on the Restoration. He understood quickly & the spirit was so strong. We are excited to see his progress!!!
On Saturday, we had another lesson with Nahuel & Yanira. We knew we had to teach the commandments. The baptism was in 2 weeks from that day & they needed to be following the commandments for 2 whole weeks, clean, for their baptism. & of course for the rest of their lives. We taught & tied it in with the temple. They were listening so intently & had such good questions & the spirit was so powerful. I had yet to feel it that strongly in a lesson about the commandments. They both agreed to make some changes in their lives from that day forward so that they could be baptized on that day. Nahuel shared with us a dream he had the night before where he was in a fully white room. He saw 3 men dressed in white with 6 men in chairs around them & 6 more standing behind the chairs. He said they were glowing in white. He had learned about the prophet & apostles & we showed him a picture of it. He stopped in his steps & his eyes filled with tears, "it was just like this" he said. Oh how sweet it was. They are so ready. They both came to church yesterday & their family bore sweet testimony of them. Tears in my eyes.
I read a talk this week that has been a focus for us. It's called "that we might not shrink" by Elder Bednar. He speaks of a recently married couple that was so dedicated & faithful to the church. Just a few weeks after being married & sealed in the temple, the husband was diagnosed with cancer. Elder Bednar went to go visit them & felt prompted to ask him a question. He spoke of how Jesus in the Bible would ask people if they had the faith to be healed. But the question that left his mouth was, "do you have the faith, not to be healed?" This question made me think a lot. Where is my faith? If it was the will of the Father to not heal me would I have the faith enough to trust in that knowing that I lived well. If not, what would I do to change it? The Lord's timing is perfect, he has a plan prepared for each of us. He will take care of us. I trust in Him. I know he lives. I know that He knows you. I know that he loves you.
As do I. & I pray for you.
With all my heart,
Hermana Morley <3
